Jose Mourinho has issued a fitness warning to England national team boss Gareth Southgate and assistant manager Steve Holland about Harry Kane ahead of international duty.
The Three Lions face Wales, Belgium and Denmark at Wembley in the coming days, and Mourinho, who has previously worked with Holland at Chelsea, is hoping that Southgate and the Portuguese's ex-colleague will not overuse Harry Kane.
“When you have such a player and you want to win every match, you play him, but you just can’t do it,” Mourinho said, as per the
Metro.
“I believe Gareth and Steve [Holland] care about players and I don’t think they want to be connected with something that can be a consequence of this week and the three internationals, which is obviously too much.
“So I don’t speak with Gareth or Steve. I didn’t speak with Ryan Giggs either. I just leave with them the respect they will have for their players.
“That’s just my hope but I’m not going to call, or ask, or beg.”
