Jose Mourinho reveals how Ajax can be stopped from playing their football
Former Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has spoken out on how teams can stop Ajax from playing their football.
After sensationally knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus, Eric Ten Hag’s team is now among the favourites to win the title.
Mourinho had experience to face young Ajax two year ago, when he beat Dutch side in Europa League final. That time Ajax squad had other key players that are now in other teams, however, Mourinho thinks the idea of the game hasn’t changed.
“We gave them the game that they didn’t want to have” Mourinho told Russia Today “They complained about long build-up, they complained about (Marouane) Fellaini, they complained about physically. They complained because they couldn’t cope.”
“If you play against Ajax in the way they want to play, you have the risk that they are better than you. If I see, for example, Ajax play Barcelona or Liverpool in the final, if they reach the final, I think Barcelona and Liverpool can beat them playing their own strength. But when your quality is not (in that level), you have to go to the strategic point of of view and give them what they don’t want” added Portuguese.

Tottenham and Ajax will play their first semi-final match on 30 April, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
