Kane was on the receiving end of numerous heavy challenges in the early stages of the clash, however, after staying down on the turf twice, the striker was unable to play for the second half, with Erik Lamela brought on in his place. After the match, Mourinho said: "Two ankles, the first was a bad tackle, it was Thiago, the second one I didn't know well.
