Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has handed Ed Woodward a two-man shortlist as their January targets. Those two targets appeared to be Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic or Sampdoria centre-back Joachim Andersen.
Mourinho was keen on signing a central defender last summer but the club refused to cash in on a defender and payed a high price with their continuous defeats.
United have conceded 21 goals in 12 league matches so far this term and have a negative goal difference heading into the festive period.
Milenkovic signed for Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2017 and according to his club, they rejected £36million move for him last summer.
Anderson has emerged as a growing talent in Italy since his move from Twente.
The 22-year-old has also attracted interest from Juventus, Milan and Tottenham.
