Why Jose Mourinho was to blame for Christian Pulisic not joining Manchester United

Christian Pulisic chose a move to Chelsea over Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho. Pulisic arrived at Chelsea to fill the void left by Eden Hazard, who left the club for Real Madrid. The 20-year-old was snapped up by the Blues in January for £58million but loaned straight back to Borussia Dortmund. This proved to be a smart bit of business ahead of their transfer ban and Hazard’s departure. The 20-year-old had been wanted by clubs across Europe last season and was linked with United before eventually choosing Chelsea. He has put off the idea of joining the Red Devils because of the apparent reluctance of former United boss Jose Mourinho to give young players a chance. That is according to Robin Walker, Pulisic's youth coach who has remained in contact with the player. “I’m a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them,” Walker told the Telegraph . “When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come. He wouldn’t go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho. His father couldn’t stand Mourinho, because he didn’t promote young players."
