Jos Verstappen: "It would be best if Max and Lewis were in the same car"

Max Verstappen's dad Jos Verstappen believes that the "whole world" is waiting for Lewis Hamilton and his son to race against each other in the same car. Hamilton won his record-equalling seventh Formula 1 World Champion in 2020. Meanwhile, Verstappen took two wins and finished third in the drivers’ standings. The 23-year-old embarks on his seventh season in F1 in 2021. Speaking to the Dutch media, Max’s father Jos said putting the two against each other in the same car would be the best way to determine who is the better racer. “It’s the same as what I say about Max: he’s incredibly strong,” he told Formule 1. “Even if you look at how he fares against his teammate. At Mercedes it really worked out for Hamilton, at McLaren he had a few years in which it didn’t work. You don’t become a world champion if you don’t have a champion team and champion car. “Let me put it this way: I wouldn’t mind if Max would ride next to Hamilton. Then it is clear, huh. The best thing would be if they were driving the same car. Then you can really compare who is the best. I would only applaud it, think it would be a very nice season then. I think the whole world is waiting for that.”
