Jordi Alba joins Lionel Messi in criticising Eric Abidal after Copa del Rey exit

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has joined Lionel Messi in criticising the club sporting director Eric Abidal after the Catalan giants dumped out of Copa del Rey. Recently Abidal suggested in an interview with Sport that players weren't happy playing under sacked manager Ernesto Valverde. Messi responded to the claims, criticising the former Barcelona player on social media. The case sparked speculations concerning the Argentina international's possible move from the club to Manchester City. Following Barcelona's 1 - 0 defeat to Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Thursday, Alba has shared his thoughts on recent incidents. He told reporters: "This club gets enough sh*t thrown at it from the outside so we shouldn't be throwing sh*t at ourselves. Abidal was a player, he is loved by the fans and that's why he should know what it's like inside the dressing room and how players feel." Quique Setien's side are sitting on the 2nd place of the La Liga table. They will face their next La Liga opponents, Real Betis, on Sunday.
