Liverpool and Manchester City are currently fighting for the Premier League title. The Reds secured first place in the Premier League before heading to an international break, while second placed Citizens have one game in hand and are two points behind the league leaders.
The Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson has sent a title warning to Citizens claiming that Liverpool will be challenging them at the top of the table for years to come.
“This is the first time we’ve really challenged for the league for a while. Hopefully it’s not just this season, it’s for the next two, three, four seasons if not longer.” said Henderson.
“That’s the most important thing for the team. But we’ll give it everything now to make sure we can become champions at the end of the season.
“You always want to go on and win. It’s so disappointing that we haven’t done that (in the past) – and that gives you that little bit more (desire) to want to get back there and want to put it right.
“That’s what us as players want to do, for us as a team and for the fans as well, for the whole club. It would be a big achievement of course.
“But when you play for Liverpool there’s always pressure, pressure to perform, expectation, of course, that’s the reason why you want to go there. To play and to win every game.
“We’ve put ourselves in a great position to compete. And now it’s down to us to just keep going.”
