John McEnroe: Odds ‘Have never been higher’ that Novak Djokovic wins the U.S. Open

Novak Djokovic enters the U.S. Open with a perfect 23-0 record in 2020, and four-time U.S. Open champion John McEnroe is taking the Serb against the field. The Open begins Monday at the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center and Djokovic plays his first match at 7 p.m. against Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur. “I’m definitely going with Novak [against the field],” McEnroe said Monday on ESPN. “Unfortunately, Roger [Federer] and Rafa [Nadal] aren’t here and that hurts a little but, but I don’t think the odds have ever been higher that [Djokovic] is going to win this. The guy’s playing at a level perhaps higher than we’ve ever seen. He doesn’t have to play his two greatest rivals. He hasn’t lost a single match all year.” Djokovic, 33, is coming off winning the Western & Southern Open in New York on Saturday while battling neck stiffness and stomach troubles.
