Jesus, Aguero, Gundogan: Manchester City injury latest and expected return dates

Manchester City have received injury boost, with Aymeric Laporte and Aleks Zinchenko returning back to the squad for the club's Premier League clash against Leicester. However, there are still players with injury concerns that City faced since the opening day win over Wolves. Laporte missed Wolves clash as he was not fully fit following a period of self-isolation. He featured for the game against the Foxes, however, coming on as a late substitute. Depite the fact that Pep Guardiola described his return as a boost, he suggested Laporte was not ready to start. The expected return date for the defender is September 30. Sergio Aguero is close to his return, after undergoing knee surgery in June that forced him to miss the last few fixtures of the last season. City boss has admitted the forward is yet to make his first training with the squad, while the full recovery process will take two months. “We knew that the injury was difficult,” said Guardiola. “He is doing the job, and in maybe one month or two months he will be ready. “Sergio was out for a long time and Sergio is not a guy who regains physical condition quick, so I think in one month or two months he will be ready.” Gabriel Jesus has picked a knock against Wolves and is not expected to be on action until October 24. Speaking about other attacking options amid the absence of Jesus and his teammate Aguero, Guardiola said: "We don't have Sergio, we don't have Gabriel. We have Liam. We have many options. Cole Palmer can play as a striker too. We will see. Sergio still hasn't trained and Gabriel was injured against Wolves so he will be out for a month." John Stones could return this week for the club's Burnley or Leeds United clash, after missing Leicester match due to struggling with a few niggles. Bernardo Silva was not fit for Wolves clash caused by the muscle injury he picked in training. According to the club boss, he is not expected to be on action before the international break, despite being pictured in training on Monday. Joao Cancelo could also be out until the international break because of the foot problem as he picked up an injury in training. Ilkay Gundogan is still isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 last week. He will only be allowed to rejoin the squad when he tests negative. The expected return date for him is October 3. Aleks Zinchenko has recovered from a muscle injury to make the bench against Leicester, though Guardiola didn't expect him to be fit before the international break. He was seen taking part in some individual fitness drills and could feature for Wednesday's Burnley clash.
