Former Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng has given a verdict on Lionel Messi's possible transfer to Etihad.
The Argentine international has requested to leave Barcelona, following the clubs' shocking 8 - 2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The 33-year-old has been linked with the move to a number of clubs, with Manchester City being the favorites to sign the player.
And amid the transfer links with Pep Guardiola's side, Boateng believes there would be no better place for Messi than City should the star decide to leave the Catalan giants.
He told
Bild:
"Pep Guardiola and Messi have celebrated great successes together, which is why both sides know that their philosophies would fit together.
"You noticed in advance that there was drama between Messi and Barcelona."
