Jan Oblak sends a message to Liverpool after the Champions League Round of 16 draw
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak believes they can progress to the Champions League quarterfinals, if they show their best qualities against Liverpool in the round of 16.
“I am glad that we are in the round of 16. Liverpool are a great team with good players and we are enthusiastic to face them. I hope that we will show what is necessary to qualify for the quarterfinals,” Oblak told Spanish media outlet Marca.
Merseyside club will return to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, where they won their 6th title last season. Jurgen Klopp’s side is surely among the favourites this season. The fact that Atletico will face European champions does not scare Oblak.
“Nothing scares me, because there are great teams and great players in Spain, and we face them every week. We’ve got used to it. I just think about doing my best.” Slovenian goalkeeper added.
Atletico Madrid and Liverpool will meet at Wanda Metropolitano on February 18.
