Liverpool intends to sign Atletico Madrid player Jan Oblak this summer. The Slovenian international has become No 1 target for the Reds chiefs as they look to strengthen the squad. The 25-year-old has impressed with his displays since arriving in the Spanish capital as Thibaut Courtois' replacement in 2014 keeping 93 clean sheets in 162 games for his club.
Oblak’s contract at Atletico runs for three more years, but Liverpool are impatient to sign the player.
Atleti's response was a price in excess of £80million, believed to be the release clause in his contract.
Liverpool will simply refuse to pay that figure - more than double the current world record fee for a goalkeeper.
That may force Liverpool to search for another keeper elsewhere.
