Ex-Tottenham player and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp lavished praise Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp, after his performance against
Newcastle on Sunday.
Callum Wilson opened the scoring at the second minute for the Magpies, meanwhile, goals from Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son helped the Spurs to celebrate the victory.
Towards the end of the game Eric Dier scored an own goal.
Skipp, who came through the Spurs academy and spent last season on-loan at Norwich, helped his side take control of the game, with Tottenham ending the game with 64% possession.
After the victory over Newcastle, Redknapp said:
“I think the manager took a lot stick against Arsenal, the balance in the midfield was wrong, tactically he got it wrong, I think bringing in Skipp has made a difference.
“What he does so well is he keeps it simple, he passes it well and he keeps the space where he can see if there’s a breakdown.
“You need that you need someone to see the other side of the game. Of course, you’ve got your match winners Ndombeles, Kanes, Sons but you need players who can keep us in order that’s what he’s done.
“He went to Norwich a boy on loan, did so well, now you can see he’s come back as a man, he looks the part in there.”
The 21-year-old Skipp has made 11 competitive appearances so far this season and continues to impress.
