Jamie Carragher surprised as Liverpool did not consider Hakim Ziyech transfer

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has revealed he was surprised that Liverpool did not rival Chelsea for Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech. After a failed trial during the January transfer window, the Blues could reach an agreement with the Dutch club over the player's transfer with a fee of €40 million (£33.3m) for him, potentially rising to €44m (£36.7m). Carragher was surprised Liverpool did not consider a move for Ziyech. He told Sky Sports’ Weekend Preview podcast: "He [Ziyech] was outstanding last season in Ajax’s Champions League run. I thought he was a player Liverpool could look at, as cover for Mane or Salah. But it looks as though Frank Lampard has got his business done early."
