Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Leicester City star James Maddison is the player Merseyside club should buy in the future.
Champions League winners were not active during the transfer window and didn't sign any top player. Jurgen Klopp told reporters he is happy with the squad and it's not bad that new star players won't arrive this summer.
Liverpool have been linked with Coutinho as Merseyside club considered a loan deal for Brazilian international, who eventually left Barcelona and joined Bayern Munich.
"I think he (Maddison) is the one player outside of the top six who Liverpool should be looking at" Carragher said during
Sky Sports Monday Night Show.
"People have been talking about Coutinho coming back, but obviously that hasn’t happened as he’s gone to Bayern Munich.
"But if you are looking in the Premier League, yes he will cost a lot of money, but he should be the one Liverpool are looking at if you’re going to that next step up." Carragher added.
