Jadon Sancho has responded to suggestions that his dip in form is connected with the transfer talks linking him with Manchester United.
Borussia Dortmund star has been the No 1 target of the Red Devils for the summer transfer window, though the deal didn’t materialise, with both sides not agreeing on a transfer fee.
The 20-year-old has failed to score in the Bundesliga games so far this season, having recorded 17 goals and 17 assists in 32 league games last term. Hence, there have been suggestions that the winger’s weak form is related to his potential move to Old Trafford.
However, Sancho scored the second goal during England’s 3 – 0 win over the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night.
“No, I don’t think so,” he spoke about suggestions after the clash.
“I feel like every player has a little dip in their career, I feel like I’m going through that at the moment.
“It’s just how I’m bouncing back, I’m just happy to have managers who have faith in me and keep starting me.”
Then he added: “I don’t think that [there’s been too much expectation].
“I just expect a lot from myself personally.
“When I play I try and assist, score and help the team.
“A few games have gone by and I wasn’t scoring or assisting, but today I had the chance to score.”
