"It's not fair"- Liverpool sent message over Wolves transfer demand

Mark Lawrenson has urged Liverpool to pay 'big money' to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk faces an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in the 2-2 draw against Everton. "I would think Virgil will be out for the season," Lawrenson told the Argus. "I think it’s a write-off because you’ve got to get match fit and that’s almost impossible nowadays because they don’t play reserve team football. If Liverpool are going to pay big money for somebody in January, they want ready-made. Conor Coady has had loads of shouts and he is a very good organiser who has played lots of games in the Premier League." Liverpool fans on social media aren't convinced Coady would be the smartest buy. One said: "Sounds like Lawro’s jumping on the Carra bandwagon with this one. While he can adapt to other styles of play, Coady is well-suited for Wolves and ingrained in that team as skipper." "No it's not fair to unsettle him," said another. "Rodgers messed him about originally and our defence was poor that season, he got one app and then benched while we persisted on with Skrtel. Also quite chaotic, ends up defending with back to play and pace-wise might not fit high line." Third wrote: "He plays as a sweeper in a 3, playing here in a 2, with a high line and his lack of pace? Fine player but just wouldn’t suit us."
