Simon Mignolet's last appearance for the Reds coincided with the last experiment of VAR in a Liverpool match. It was in during the game against West Brom in FA Cup where the Reds lost 2-3.
The Reds were beneficiaries of the video review system two times. When Craig Dawson 'goal' was disallowed by referee Craig Pawson because Gareth Barry was adjuged to have impeded Mignolet, then Liverpool was awarded a penalty, which Roberto Firmino missed after Jake Livermore had pulled back Mo Salah in an incident missed by most first time around.
The VAR system will be used in Carabao Cup as well.
VAR was trialled in four of the Carabao Cup second-round fixtures last month, all at Premier League stadiums.
