International coach provides injury update on Liverpool star

England Under-21s head coach Lee Carsley has provided an injury update on Curtis Jones, who has “tightness in his groin area”. The Liverpool midfielder earned a call-up to the Young Lions squad for their European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Slovenia and Andorra. Jones was expected to make his first appearance for the team on Thursday since he was sent off at the Under-21 European Championships in March. But the 20-year-old missed the qualifier against Slovenia, which saw England spurn a two-goal lead to draw 2-2. After the game Carsley said of Jones:

“He had a bit of tightness in his groin area.   “We will never put players in position where we will risk them.   “We’ll monitor the situation looking towards Andorra but we will not be putting him under any pressure to play.”
