"I'm not stupid": New Spurs signing suggests he didn't join to play regularly

Goalkeeper Joe Hart has admitted that he is under no illusions with regards to his playing time at Tottenham Hotspur this season. Spurs signed the veteran England international on a free transfer after Burnley cut him loose at the end of last season. Tottenham needed a third goalkeeper in the squad after Michel Vorm was released. Hart above Paulo Gazzaniga as Jose Mourinho’s number two. The 33-year-old didn’t make a single Premier League appearance for the Clarets last term, being an unused substitute on 29 occasions. He said: “I am not stupid. That opportunity was not going to come in a given number one slot. After working out what Jose wanted from his squad and what he thought I could bring to it, it matched what I thought. I haven’t come to shake it up. I have come to make Tottenham better.”
