Ibrahima Konate makes 'sad' claim over his Liverpool debut

On Tuesday July 20, Ibrahima Konate made his debut at Liverpool against VfB Stuttgart, where the match ended 1-1. Speaking to Liverpool's official website, the French player was really really happy, but also a bit sad.

“Yes, I'm very happy.”

“It’s an unforgettable moment for me. Yes, without our fans – but I'm very, very happy. Just a little bit sad – very sad – because we didn’t win. But it’s OK, I’m happy.”

He also shared some words on the team's general play, and how excited he is to finally see the fans soon at Liverpool’s next friendly against FSV Mainz 05.

“I was very happy with the team on the pitch; good communication with everybody.

“Step by step we will be better, this is the first time in pre-season. We are waiting for the next game.”

“And for the football players, it's very sad when you play without your fans.

“Now, I think it will be a new level with the fans because the fans were sad to not be here with us. And this will be very, very important to us.”
