Slavia Prague player Nicolae Stanciu has congratulated Ianis Hagi on winning the Scottish Premiership with Rangers. The Gers ended Celtic's 9-year reign and became champions without any defeats in the league.
Stanciu and Hagi faced each other in the Europa League last-16 first leg when the game ended in a 1-1 draw as Stanciu scored for Slavia, while Filip Helander scored for the Gers.
The Romanian duo will face each other once again in the last-16 second leg on Thursday.
Stanciu told
DigiSport: "It was something special. After the draw, I talked to Ianis. After seeing that (Romanian official Ovidiu) Hațegan will also referee us, it seemed unreal to me, for this to happen at a Europa League match. We were both happy.
"It was a nice match, they have a very good team, but we will see on Thursday how it goes down.
"During the match everyone was focused but we talked before and after the match and now we are waiting to meet in Glasgow.
"We congratulated each other. I am happy when we are in the last 16 of the Europa League, both me and him. It's good for Romania, that we play at this level.
"I congratulated him on winning the championship in Scotland.
"And I'm about to take the title here. It is important for Romanian football that other Romanians win titles in foreign countries."
