‘I wasn’t happy': £25m Spurs star opens up about last season's challenges at the club

Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski has opened up on a challenging season in 2022/23, where Spurs faced setbacks and finished eighth in the Premier League.

In an interview with football.london, the Swedish international spoke out about determined efforts to turn things around in the current season.

The club has undergone positive transformations, both in the boardroom and on the field, with Ange Postecoglou bringing renewed vigor to the team.\

Despite facing hurdles such as injuries and suspensions, the North Londoners have become an exciting and solid squad under the Australian manager.

Kulusevski acknowledges the collective struggles of last season but expresses optimism about the brighter future at Tottenham. As one of the players who faced challenges, he reveals being back at his best and eager to contribute to Spurs' success in the ongoing campaign.

“I wasn’t happy with last season and the way it finished so I wanted to come back much stronger this season,” said the 23-year-old.

“I did a lot of work every day, a lot of hard work, and now I feel like the best version of myself and coming back into my real form.

“I’m just happy because it took many months to get to this point – it didn’t happen overnight – but I’ve worked so hard to get to this level.

“I feel completely free, not only in the new position but in my mind just playing football without overthinking because it’s the best way to play football when you’re not thinking about mistakes or anything else.
