How new European Super League idea affect Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and the Premier League

Several European football giants have agreed to create a new division, which is called a Super League. According to the Times and Daily Mail, an official statement is set to be released at 9:30 pm (UK time) on Sunday. Florentino Perez is set to become the president of the Super League which is involving Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus have also agreed to take part. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich hold reservations. Provisional arrangements for the Super League would see 15 founding members automatically included, with five spaces available on an annual basis. Reports claim, that each club would receive £310million to join the new league assigning them to 18-23 European games per season. However, there is a huge setback for those clubs, as Premier League clubs need permission from the FA to join any new competitions. If that was rejected it could force them to be left out from domestic football. The decision would be made by the Premier League board and clubs will not vote.

European clubs reject Super League

Top football clubs and leagues in Europe have rejected the Super League in favor of the existing structure, following the EU court's ruling on Thursday. The court verdict stated that UEFA and FIFA violated EU law by obstructing the establishment of a Super League. Notably, Manchester United swiftly expressed their ongoing commitment to participating in UEFA-run competitions, a sentiment echoed by German champions Bayern Munich. Manchester United was initially part of the 12 clubs that proposed the breakaway Super League in April 2021 but withdrew due to pressure from fans, governments, and players.

FA statement said: "The Premier League condemns any proposal that attacks the principles of open competition and sporting merit which are at the heart of the domestic and European football pyramid. "Fans of any club in England and across Europe can currently dream that their team may climb to the top and play against the best. We believe that the concept of a European Super League would destroy this dream. "The Premier League is proud to run a competitive and compelling football competition that has made it the most widely watched league in the world. Our success has enabled us to make an unrivalled financial contribution to the domestic football pyramid. "A European Super League will undermine the appeal of the whole game, and have a deeply damaging impact on the immediate and future prospects of the Premier League and its member clubs, and all those in football who rely on our funding and solidarity to prosper. "We will work with fans, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA, as well as other stakeholders, at home and abroad, to defend the integrity and future prospects of English football in the best interests of the game."
