Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has expressed admiration for Kalvin Phillips, describing the Manchester City star as having "high-class quality".
The Citizens' midfielder has been recently linked with a potential move to Liverpool. According to a report in The Daily Star from April, the Merseyside club have shown interest in acquiring the player during the summer transfer window.
The report suggests that Klopp personally desires the former Leeds midfielder to join his team, with the club allegedly prepared to offer £35 million for the services of the England international.
Amid the transfer talks, Gerrard made positive comments about Phillips during a Channel 4 broadcast while observing the player's goal and overall performance for England against North Macedonia in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group C match at Old Trafford.
“I think that will give him motivation as well to come back and have a real strong pre-season," the former Reds' man said.
“He will have had a frustrating season, but we all know he has got high-class quality. He will be desperate to go the Euros next season, and he will do that by having a fantastic season at Man City," he added.
