Arsenal sealed into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with 3-1 victory over Championship side Brentford.
Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan drove forward in the first half to find Alex Iwobi, who in turn picked out Nacho Monreal for a low cross that Danny Welbeck converted.
In his post match interview the highly rated midfielder revealed the details of the match.
“The most important thing was the win to go to the next round. The first half was a bit easier than the second one, but we were fighting, we were trying, we were working hard, and at the end we scored the third goal, so congratulations to us,” Mkhitaryan said.
On Brentford win the midfielder added.
“We knew that they’re a tough opponent and playing very well so it didn’t mean that in the first half after we’d scored two goals that everything was going to be easy. We knew that in the second half they were going to do it more and more and more, but we were ready for it.|”
Mkhitaryan, who played his part in the goal of the game, has also spoken about Arsenal youngster Smith Rowe.
Smith Rowe made his senior debut against FV Vorskla in the Europa League last week when he came off the bench late on during the 4-2 win.
“I am very happy for him because he did a good game, and for the other players as well. Everyone showed that everyone is ready to play and it doesn’t matter what kind of game it’s going to be, Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup or Europa league. Everyone is ready to play and to help Arsenal succeed,” Mkhitaryan said.
