Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn and his current situation at the club.
The Lilywhites signed Bergwijn during the January transfer window earlier this year from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for a £27 million transfer fee. Since then the 23-year-old has made 25 appearances for Spurs, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
This term the Dutch professional has made just four Premier League appearances, starting only one of them.
And speaking about the current situation, Gold said on his
video:
“We know he wasn’t a Mourinho signing, he wasn’t someone that Mourinho wanted as his first choice. He very publicly, and perhaps probably shouldn’t have said, but he said that.
“I think [Erik] Lamela and Lucas [Moura], he trusts with the work rate aspect of things and to almost be like full-backs as well as wingers.
“Until Bergwijn has that in his locker, I don’t think you’ll see him as a regular.”
