“He should beat Harry Kane"-Brendan Rodgers speaks on Jamie Vardy

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers wants Jamie Vardy to become the Premier League topscorer this season. The Foxes striker has scored an impressive 17 goals in just 20 top flight games for his side, who look good for a top-four finish this season. He is three points ahead of nearest challengers Danny Ings, Marcus Rashford and looks set to finish above compatriot Harry Kane, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Speaking of Vardy and his race for the Golden Boot, Rodgers said: “He should beat Harry Kane (to the Golden Boot) this time. Goalscorers like that, that is what you want, you want them to have that ambition. “He is also very much about the team and Jamie is a team player. But from a personal perspective every striker would love to finish as the top goalscorer. “He gets paid every month at the bank by the club to score goals and create them. “Naturally that is his bread and butter – that is what he does.” Brendan Rodgers' side return to action this Sunday, as they are set to face Burnley at Turf Moor.
