"He’s not been good": BBC pundit surprised by Arsenal star's "extremely poor" display vs Chelsea

Pat Nevin has shared his thoughts on Arsenal star David Raya's latest display against Chelsea. The pundit was not impressed by the goalkeeper's contribution as he spoke on BBC 5 Live.

Despite the challenges, Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta was probably relieved to come away with a point in a tough match against Mauricio Pochettino's team. The Gunners played a 2 - 2 draw with the opponents. Cole Palmer opened the score from a penalty spot, with Mykhaylo Mudryk adding to the lead with a tricky cross that went past Raya.

Later on, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard marked their name on the scoresheet to help their side share points at Stamford Bridge.

Aaron Ramsdale was not in the Arsenal squad because he was with his family following the birth of his daughter. This made it an easy choice for Arteta to pick the starting goalkeeper.

Even though Arteta had talked about possibly using different goalkeepers, Raya has become the primary choice for the Gunners. However, in the Chelsea game, the keeper had trouble passing the ball to his teammates. This was concerning, especially because one of the reasons the club signed him from Brentford was his skill in distributing the ball.

This situation adds more intrigue to Arsenal's ongoing goalkeeper dilemma, and Nevin was among the pundits who shared his thoughts on the player, saying, via TBR Football:

“He’s not been good on the ball, his passing from the back has been extremely poor, you have to call it the way it is.”
