"He must be happy again": Former national coach urges player to leave Liverpool

Former Switzerland coach Otmar Hitzfeld has urged Xherdan Shaqiri to find a new club and move away from Liverpool. Shaqiri has joined the Reds back in 2018 and won Champions League and Premier League titles with the club during the last two campaigns. However, the winger has found his playing time limited with Jurgen Klopp's side, having made just 42 appearances since his arrival and now is struggling for his place at the first team squad. And his former Hitzfeld has suggested his own solution for the case, saying: That is the maximum penalty. And it doesn’t get any easier for him. “As a coach, I know it: your regular eleven works and you want a refreshment on the bench. That Shaqiri wasn’t even on the line-up is a clear sign from the coach. “Xherdan should move to a club where he plays regularly. He must be happy again; we all want to see happy Xherdan again. A change would be good for everyone around him and for his fans. “A Premier League club in secure midfield would be a good step, or in the Bundesliga a club like Gladbach, Leverkusen or Wolfsburg. To gain a foothold again and to get match practice.”
