England captain and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has revealed the one attribute he really likes about Declan Rice’s game.
West Ham Youngster could be in line to make his England debut on Friday night with the Three Lions starting their EURO 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic.
“I spoke to him yesterday. The thing I like most about him is as a defensive midfielder he looks to play forward as quick as possible,” said the Spurs ace at his press conference.
“It’s easy to play side to side and backwards and their completion rate looks good. Declan’s first thought is to look forward.
“On the defensive side he has a centre-back’s instinct to drop in… I’m a big fan of him, I like the way he plays.
“I spoke to him about [being a CB] and he enjoys where he is now. In football nowadays you have to be versatile.
“It’s great to have someone who can play in different positions.
“I think he prefers to play as a defensive midfielder… from my point of view I think he’ll stay there for most of his career.”
