Guardiola provides huge update on Mendy and De Bryune ahead of the Liverpool clash

Liverpool’s Sunday visit of the defending Premier League champions Manchester City is both clubs' seventh match in 23 days between the September and October international breaks. Ahead of the game, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola faced the press. Guardiola gives an injury update Everybody is OK, Gundogan has a little bit problem. He could not train today but we will see tomorrow. He (De Bruyne) is training with us. Guardiola asked about Liverpool challenge We make a good performance other than the end of the first half (in last seasons CL game at Anfield). The rest of the game we were outstanding. We showed an incredible performance. 45 minutes 3-0 down in the Champions League. In the game at home, we made a very good game as well. After they equalised we were down. Guardiola asked about LFC loss to Napoli Napoli is an incredible team, an incredible team. They play so well with a good manager. It’s completely different than the Premier League. The level is higher. I give more credit to what Napoli have done, I don’t think Liverpool played bad. Guardiola asked about bus attack The police knew it before it happened. Now they know, I don’t know what is going to happen. Guardiola: We're trying to get closer to Liverpool Liverpool will beat a lot of teams, not just Man City. Liverpool is one of the true greatest teams in England. We try to be close to them in terms of many, many things. Will KDB play? We will see tomorrow (if De Bruyne can play vs Liverpool). On Mendy He came back to train today, yes. He’s in contention. Is LFC City's biggest away game? There are many tough away games. After the games we have three games more to play, the points against Liverpool is the same as any other match. When you win the Premier League, that is the target. Why is Klopp so hard for Pep to play against? He has all the qualities that everybody knows about Liverpool. At the end, it’s the teams and the clubs that win the game. I don’t play against the manager, we play against Liverpool. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, sometimes we win competitions, sometimes we lose competitions. He is an excellent manager, I have a lot of respect for the way he plays, his proactive teams. In the Premier League, we beat them, in the Champions League we didn’t. Why is playing LFC in PL different to in CL? In the Champions League it’s 180 minutes, in PL it’s 38 games. Pep: LFC deserve praise They deserve all the praise they get. We got a lot of praise last season. We should be so proud to be compared with them. It was always United, Liverpool, then Chelsea, then Arsenal, and now we are there. We try to get closer. Pep asked about bus attack again The best way to protect the bus is for the Liverpool fans to behave the right way. We should not need the police. Why are the police there? For what? Why should the fans have to protect our bus? It depends on the Liverpool people, not Manchester City.
