Granit Xhaka speaks out on his Arsenal future

Granit Xhaka, who has been linked with a move away of Arsenal, insists he is happy at Arsenal and would be proud to take the club captaincy. The midfielder was asked by Blick if he hoped to take the armband should Laurent Koscielny leave this summer. "Hoping for me is not the right word in this context. Would I be incredibly proud and would I like to lead the team as captain? Absolutely. But I try, even without the armband, to be a leader to anticipate and take responsibility. "I'm a leader in a top 5 team in the strongest league in the world. We ended the season only two points behind third, we were in the final of the Euro-League and could have moved into the Champions League with a victory. I see ourselves as a club in a very good way and I still have a long-term contract. I currently feel very good sporty and privately."
