Granit Xhaka reveals Lucas Torreira’s impact on his statistics at Arsenal

Only a glance at the statistics will be enough to understand the impact Lucas Torreira has made since arriving at Arsenal in the summer. The Uruguay international was signed from Sampdoria in a £27 million deal and managed to make an impact with his performances for the Gunners. With Torreira in the side, Arsenal have scored 23 goals in 641 minutes of football this season and conceded just four. But without him they have conceded 10 in 439 minutes and only found the net nine times themselves. The midfielder’s impact wasn’t underestimated by Granit Xhaka as well, who admits that the Uruguay international helps him a great deal. “Lucas gives us good balance in the team between offence and defence,” said Xhaka ahead of their upcoming Europa League game against Sporting CP Lisbon. “You can see that he’s important for us because he’s strong in defence and in duels. He can play easily from side to side and going forward, he helps with our balance. “It’s not easy to always score two or three goals in a game,” said Xhaka. “But we know we have good players in the offence and we are in a happy moment that all the players can score.”
