Glenn Hoddle stunned by Cesar Azpilicueta’s comments after thrilling Chelsea draw with Valencia

Glenn Hoddle stunned by Cesar Azpilicueta’s admission that Chelsea ‘didn’t manage the game well’ following the side’s 2-2 draw away at Valencia in the Champions League. Lampard’s men will go through if they beat Lille at home in a fortnight. The Chelsea captain told BT Sport: “We didn’t manage [the game] well. We had a good reaction to the first goal but when we were 2-1 up we should have created more danger, more chances. Valencia are a good team, they have quality, and they pushed to the end because they wanted to qualify as well. It was a good game. Both teams wanted to win, they had chances, there was a penalty, VAR – everything.  We’d prefer to have the three points but we have qualification in our hands against Lille at home.” Former Chelsea and England star Hoddle enjoyed the match, but could only laugh when discussing Azpilicueta’s post-match comments. “It was incredible, absolutely incredible. For the neutral it must’ve been an amazing game,” Hoddle said. “As a coach, there are so many things you can pick at. The entertainment value was up there with any game I’ve seen in the Champions League. The chances that were missed by both sides! Just amazing. It made me laugh there… Azpilicueta said “we didn’t manage the game very well” – in the 96th minute, he’s the right-sided centre-back of a back-five and he’s overlapping Reece James! I don’t get it sometimes!” Source- Metro
