Gini Wijnaldum hits back at Guardiola over Sadio Mane comments

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has explained why he finds Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s comments “a little bit stange” ahead of the Reds’ clash on against the Sky Blues. Guardiola called Mane a “diver” last weekend prompting a backlash from all corners. "Sometimes Mane is diving, sometimes he’s scoring goals in the last minute," the City manager said. Mane himself batted away the comments. “That’s something you can only answer at the end of the season," Wijnaldum said.  "But if we have a good result against City, that will be really good for us. But it’s the same for them!" "I heard what he said - he gave his opinion about us and the way he thinks," the Holland international said. "Nothing bad in that. That is his opinion. In his opinion, Sadio is a diver. What can you say about that? I didn’t see the [Villa] one back, so it’s difficult to give my opinion on that, but I cant remember Sadio doing it before. Now we have VAR as well, so… How many players of ours have had a yellow card for diving? Sadio was the first, I think? So to say that we are divers is, I think it’s a little bit strange. That’s my opinion." Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, November 10.
