Frank Lampard speaks about Leicester game, Tammy Abraham and provides injury updates

Frank Lampard is aiming to avoid third defeat as Chelsea manager when Leicester head to London on Sunday. The Blues was thumped 4-0 by Manchester United in their Premier League opener before losing the UEFA Super Cup to Liverpool on penalties in midweek. Ahead of the game against Brendan Rodger’s side, Lampard has faced the press. Lampard has revealed what he learnt from the Liverpool game. “We didn’t concede so many goals. There were some good parts in the Manchester United game. We just need to learn about the four errors from the goals. Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world and we matched them. We moved the ball and created chances,” he said. “We lost on penalties but in the game, we should have won. What’s important now is the reaction and we’re looking to get our first three points.” Tammy Abraham, 21, had his decisive spot-kick saved by Reds keeper Adrian and was subsequently targeted with racist abuse on social media. On the abuse he got, Lampard said: “I am particularly disgusted by a so-called Chelsea fan. Something needs to be done. I’m so angry for Tammy and the club does a lot of work against discrimination on all levels. I’ve spoken with Tammy and he is a strong character. He wants to do really well for the club this year. He’s a great young man. Tammy is always desperate to score and that’s one of the things I love about him. He gets in positions regularly and that’s an indication of his character that he’s not hiding." Lampard said the team are doing a lot of recoveries rather than training after playing 120 minutes on Liverpool. The game against Leicester will be the first for Lampard as a Blues manager at Stamford Bridge. On his Stamford Bridge return, Leicester and the game, he said: “Pride. I’m proud to manage this club and I’ve been back a few times since retiring as a player. It’s important how our mindset is going into the games as it’s been a strange two games. We need to tackle it head-on with a real focus. It’s a big game for us in front of all our fans. Brendan’s got a good group of players there.” On Michy Batshuayi’s and Davide Zappacosta’s future Lampard said: “Michy’s here as one of our three strikers. He’s very much in our plans and competing with Tammy and Oli for that space. Zappa’s our player. Reece will be another two or three weeks. I’ve been really impressed with Zappacosta’s attitude.” Callum Hudson-Odoi has trained the last week or two with the 23s. Antonio Rudiger is also training, while Willian’s probably closer.
