Frank Lampard sends Timo Werner message after his performance for Chelsea against Arsenal

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has spoken out on Timo Werner following their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Boxing Day. Werner was substituted in the second half as Callum Hudson-Odoi replaced him. The game against the Gunners was the German center-forward's tenth game without a goal for the Blues in all competitions, as his last goal was against Sheffield United back in November. Following the defeat, Lampard was asked whether Werner was fatigued and now needed a rest after so long without a goal. "We'll see.," he said. "Certainly the goals not going in is always something an attacking player will get judged on. The subs, I could have made more. But I felt I had to make the subs in those two areas to inject energy. "Timo wasn't giving us enough with or without the ball. Some of it we have to give him time. I keep saying the same thing because it's a different league but we also have to get there quickly. We'll see about the tiredness - I'll have a conversation with him. But I felt I had to make changes to change the course of the match." Werner has made overall 22 appearances in which he has scored 8 goals and provided 6 assists. source - football.london / Join us on Telegram
