Frank Lampard PRESS-CONFERENCE: Chelsea boss - on Bayern Munich, injured players and more

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has spoken to the media ahead of the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich.  Blues will meet Bundesliga champions in European competitions for the first time since 2013, when Bayern beat Chelsea to win European Supercup after Romelu Lukaku’s miss during the penalty shoot-out.  In the Champions League, this will be the first meeting after the memorable final for Chelsea in 2012, when Didier Drogba equalised a minute before the stoppage time and then scored the decisive penalty to win the trophy for this club, the first in the history. On if he will risk against Bayern Munich tomorrow (via Football London)
I don’t remember saying that too much. Depends on the game. This is a two-legged game. Concentration and focus must be absolutely top in both games. Like us to take risks in attacking areas but in terms of our defensive mindset we have to be really on it.
Will Giroud start against Bundesliga champions?
Very pleasing [Saturday] but it’s a tight turnaround after the effort put in. Need to assess that but how he played was fantastic. Not just the goal but the work he did off the ball and how we defended from the front. He is quality and has given me a lot to think of.
On Robert Lewandowski
It doesn’t concern. He’s been so consistent for years. Goalscoring record, everything about him from a distance is top class. I’ve watched quite a lot of Bayern and that shines through. He’s the spearhead but they have a lot of threats. The levels have to go up in the knockout stages. The levels must go up everywhere.
Injury updates
Christian, Callum, N’Golo are out. Pedro is back in contention after a small injury at the weekend. Callum isn’t far away but not this game. Ruben is fit, in the squad.
Lampard also mentioned their rivals as favourites to win the Bundesliga title due to qualities and strength. Blues boss didn't agree with being underdogs. Lampard mentioned the factor of being less experienced, but he also emphasized the ability of his team to overcome difficulties and face challenges.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich will meet at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Kick-off time: 20:00 (UK Time)
