Frank Lampard gives injury update ahead of FA Cup final, speaks about Kepa, Giroud and Willian

Frank Lampard wants Chelsea to bring silverware into the new season, having already clinched a place in the Champions League. Mikel Arteta needs that silverware just to keep his project in the Europa League.

Arsenal and Chelsea will face each other on Saturday, August 1 at Wembley. Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Lampard has faced the press.

Lampard has revealed N’Golo Kante and Willian are fit, while they will be without Ruben Loftus-Cheek: “N’Golo Kante and Willian are in the squad. Loftus-Cheek has a small problem and is out of the game.”

The Chelsea boss has been asked, whether it’s different FA Cup final, and he replied: “It doesn’t affect preparations, we still want to win it. If you win it stays with it for life. Of course you want fans to be there, they have been great for us.”

Lampard says, he would be delighted to win the trophy. But he knows it will be difficult.

Asked who will be between the sticks, Kepa Arrizabalaga or Willy Caballero, he answered: “Difficult because we have competition in the squad. I have changed it at times, we consider the games as we go. I know how much players want to be in these games. People off the bench have made a huge difference in recent games.”

Olivier Giroud will face his former side, on the French international Lampard said: “It’s always firstly down to the player on form. I try to work with the group to make my message clear. You work on a lot of things with strikers, on and off the ball. Olivier has been fantastic listening to that, the credit goes to him.”

Lampard believes, the victory would be a great boost for young players. It will be a great experience.

Asked whether Willian give a 100 per-cent effort despite ongoing contract talks, the boss answered: “Yeah, because I have known him for many years and his mentality has shown since the restart. He has given everything.”
