Frank Lampard confident of keeping Chelsea star at the club this January

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard believes he’s done enough to convince Olivier Giroud that there’s no need to leave Stamford Bridge in January. The Frenchman revealed last month that he was questioning his future with the Blues ahead of next summer’s European Championships. Giroud started this season as back-up to the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Tammy Abraham following Lampard’s splurge in the transfer market. With such limited opportunities, the 34-year-old was already seeking an exit in January and Didier Deschamps had made it clear that the striker would need to play more if he wanted to feature for his country next summer. However, Giroud’s crucial goal against Rennes in the Champions League in November has seen him reestablish himself as a regular under Lampard. The striker is likely to be rotate over the congested festive schedule but the Telegraph reports that Lampard is now confident that he’s convinced the Frenchman that he needn’t leave next month. Giroud is likely to start as Chelsea look to get back to winning ways when they host London rivals West Ham on the weekend. Source- Metro Join us on Telegram!
