Frank Lampard admits Mason Mount has pressed his claim to start against Manchester United

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has insisted that they will have to raise their game in Premier League opener against Manchester United, after a 2-2 draw at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Lampard was full of praise for Mason Mount, who capped a fine pre-season with an excellent performance at Borussia Park. "He’s done a lot," said Lampard. "Obviously, I worked with him last year and I’m really happy with how he’s training, how he’s playing and his status in the group coming back here. The players recognise quality instantly but they also recognise work rate and character and Mason has all of those. "He’s given me a problem. Ross Barkley had also had a good pre-season and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be back later on and it’s good, as they’re all adaptable. It doesn’t have to be just one. They can play in a variety of positions. I couldn’t ask for more from what Mason has done."
