Four free agents Arsenal could sign in January transfer window

The January transfer window has officially opened, which means the Premier League sides will be looking to bring new fresh players to improve their squads. Arsenal have recently struggled in the league, while Mikel Arteta has already opened up on possible outs and ins for the team's improvement. At the end of the 2020/21 campaign, a number of players will be available for free, and Gunners are likely to target some of them. Here are four players that Arsenal could look to bring to the Emirates Stadium during the winter transfer window.

David Alaba

Arsenal's David Luiz is out-of-contract at the end of the season, as well as Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis so that the club may keen on signing a new centre-back. And they can go for Bayern Munich star David Alaba, who has currently turned down the offer of a new contract at the German side. The 28-year-old is currently at the center of the attention of some top clubs, with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Julian Draxler

Arsenal may target an attacking-minded midfielder as well, having Draxler on their radar. The 27-year-old his nearing the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, after spending four years with the French giants. Draxler has been previously linked with the move to the Emirates Stadium several times, so it's quite natural to see him linked with the Gunners once again.

Lucas Vazquez

Real Madrid winger was close to leaving the Spanish side last summer, while now he has no intention of staying at the club and turned down their offer of singing a new contract. It could be a transfer boost for Mikel Arteta's side as the 29-year-old could be a vital addition to the club's squad. Naturally being right winger, Vazquez could offer competition to Nicolas Pepe and Willian, with both players struggling for form and consistency this season.

Florian Thauvin

Another right-wing option could become Thauvin, after his impressive playing spell in Marseille. The Frenchman has become a key player in his current side, however, according to Pablo Longoria, the French club's Head of Football, he is more likely to leave the club this summer rather than sign a new deal. Thauvin has previously played in the Premier League, spending two years at Newcastle United.
