Former MU and Liverpool player makes title race statement

Ex-Manchester United and Liverpool player Paul Ince believes Champions League victory has given Liverpool enough confidence to win Premier League title this season. Last season Merseyside club was so close to win Premier League for the first time, but Jurgen Klopp's team lost to Manchester City in title race by one point. However, Klopp finally managed to win a big trophy with Reds after beating Tottenham in Champions League final. And Paul Ince believes the European triumph will be a catalyst for Liverpool to finally win the domestic league. "What I like about Liverpool, from winning the Champions League against Tottenham, is they have that belief now," Ince told Mirror in an exclusive interview. "I think losing the title last year destroyed them, but the fact they had a game after and won the Champions League it gave them that lift - that confidence to win it. "We did it at Man United in 1991 when we beat Barcelona in the European Cup Winners' Cup. "It was the catalyst. You could sense the different mentality in the players - we could beat anyone, because once you beat Barcelona, you can. "And you see that with Liverpool now, the confidence, the experience of losing it last year - that won't faze them now. There won't be talk about titles, the club won't allow it. They will just be taking it one game at a time. "Last year I always felt like Man City would win it, now I don't." he added. Liverpool will visit Old Trafford this weekend. Despite the fact that Manchester United are close to relegation zone, the derby is always another story for both teams. Moreover, Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer will have 4 starting lineup players back, including Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw. Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile could finally start Alisson and Joel Matip, as both Brazilian and Cameroonian are back to trainings. "So many things can go wrong, we've seen that last week, Liverpool might not have got that late penalty to win 2-1, so points will be won and lost." "The pressure is on City because losing at Wolves was a big shock. Sometimes it's the games you think you should win, you don't." Ince concluded. Image - Sunday Mirror/
