Tottenham Hotspur have been offered Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, who is set to be sold for just £10 million, according to
The Sun on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho is certainly not short of firepower up front after Gareth Bale’s return to the club last week. Spurs put five past a hapless Southampton side on Sunday, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min ripping the Saints defence to shreds in the second half.
But Mourinho has made it clear that he wants two players in every position to compete on all fronts this season and that the club is looking to bring in a striker before the transfer window shuts (
Football.London).
Benteke is one man who has been mentioned as a target in the past, with Spurs reportedly trying in vain to sign him during January when Kane was out with a hamstring injury (
Sky Sports).
The Guardian reported last week that Benteke had been offered to Tottenham this transfer window as the North Londoners continue to look for a suitable back up to Kane.
The Sun on Sunday now claim that the Eagles are ready to let the Belgian international leave. It is asserted that £10m would be enough to price Benteke away from Selhurst Park.
