Former England striker Jermain Defoe speaks out on failed Leeds United move

Jermain Defoe, who currently plays for Rangers, has opened up on interest which came from Leeds United back in a day. Speaking with Sky Sports, Defoe said: "I wanted to be back playing in the Premier League. "I did get a phone call about Leeds when they had all those players there and were doing well, but when I got the Tottenham call I wanted to go there. "I know my football so I started thinking about all of the great forwards that played for that club like (Jurgen) Klinsmann, (Gary) Lineker and Gazza (Paul Gascoigne). "It just felt right." Defoe has played for several clubs including West Ham, where he began his career, as well as Tottenham and in 2019, during January transfer window, Defoe was loaned to Rangers from Bournemouth.
