Former Aston Villa and Cardiff star Peter Whittingham is alive despite rumours of his death on social media.
The 35-year-old is fighting for his life in Cardiff's Heath Hospital, as South Wales Police have confirmed.
Whittingham has made 413 appearances for Cardiff, scoring 85 goals during his 10-year playing time with the Bluebirds.
In 2013 he led the club to the Premier League for the first time and also helped them to the FA Cup final in 2008 and League Cup final in 2012.
Whittingham’s wife, Amanda, is currently pregnant.
