Football.London: The eight players Arsenal are must get rid of this summer

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester dented Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League with a 3-0 victory at King Power Stadium. It was a third consecutive Premier League defeat for the Gunners and it left them two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Arsenal have won only twice away from home in the league this season and despite that, they are still in the Europa League and will play a semi-final clash with Valencia on May 2, they need a huge summer overhaul. It has been reported, that the Gunners boss Unai Emery is ready to offload some players and now, Football.London journalists Tashan Deniran-Alleyne and Layth Yousif created a list of players that Arsenal must sell this summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan
While possessing a rare talent and technique is too brittle for the rigours the Premier League. He has consistently failed to impose his will in games since singing for the club as part of the swap deal Manchester United agreed with Arsenal that saw Alexis Sanchez go the other way. It was telling the Armenian's major contribution was to force referee Michael Oliver to restart the kick-off
Alex Iwobi
His performances at the start of the season were a great improvement on the previous couple of seasons. However the 22-year-old is another who has failed to perform consistently nor influence the course of matches sufficiently enough to be able to claim permanent progress has been made. On his first team debut, in a 3-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday in October 2015, he was raw but bursting with potential. He was extremely impressive in Arsenal's 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Nou Camp in March of that season. He followed up that excellent performance by scoring at Goodison Park three days later in a 2-0 victory and by then it looked as though the club had a player with bags of promise. Yet, his progress stalled over the next two seasons. Whether he suffered from being indulged by the previous managerial incumbent, knowing that despite a lull in performance levels his place in the side was safe, or whether it was simply a case of a young player experiencing a dip after an exuberant start to his career is hard to tell. But the fact is the player who has been in the first team for three full seasons is still massively underachieving. If Arsenal are to have serious designs on challenging for silverware next season Iwobi has, sadly, shown he is not the answer for Arsenal and must, with regret be sold.
Shkodran Mustafi
A calamity waiting to happen. How many times has his errors cost Arsenal during his career? Too many to mention. But, a look at the last week alone provides enough damming evidence. Culpable for all three goals against Crystal Palace during the 3-2 defeat by Crystal Palace at the Emirates over Sunday while he was left floundering in no man's land in the box after James Maddison whipped in a cross for Youri Tielemans to nod home. Likeable as he is off the pitch, Mustafi has to go. It's not his fault the club paid an inflated fee of £35million to Valencia, nor is it his fault he's joined a club that plays at a level far and away above his capabilities. But Arsenal and Sanllehi have to act now and sound out clubs across Europe that would be interested in his services. It's the least he and long-suffering Gunners fans deserve.
Mohamed Elneny
Underwhelming performances in the heart of the battle over the last three seasons offer no case why the likeable but patently under par former Basel midfielder is not the answer, even as a squad player. The Egyptian has only made 16 appearances this season after a troublesome hamstring injury spending the majority season on the bench. Another who will not survive the cull.
Stephan Lichtsteiner
Arrived to fanfare as Emery's first signing. But the experienced 35-year-old right-back has failed to show leadership qualities to compensate for his lack of influence as a defender. Nor organisational skills to make up for his lack of pace in the Gunners backline. Like many of the underperforming squad he talks a good game off the pitch while being unable to translate his words onto the turf. He used to be known as the Swiss Express in his prime for showing pace and athleticism down the right flank. However, given his slide into the being an ineffective veteran it is time for the express to be decomissioned. He can look back and be proud of a wonderful career. Just not at Arsenal.
Denis Suarez
If Suarez was deemed to be the answer what on earth was the question? He's played 95 minutes in four months at Arsenal. He appeared in four league games where his contribution was negligible while appearing in both Europa League ties against Borisov. Injured in training after the Everton defeat in early April it is debatable whether he will even appear in Arsenal colours again. Vying to become the club's worst ever loan signing. Which is a shame as he is a talented lad. But as every Gooner knows, talent is not enough without a will-to-win or confidence enough in your abilities to be able to stand tall and contribute in big games.
Carl Jenkinson
It's difficult to be too harsh Jenkinson, he's a life-long gooner and he does give his all in every game. Problem is that his best just isn't good enough and the fact he is still around in 2019 when he wasn't up to scratch at least three years ago shows how badly this squad has been mis-managed in recent years. Sorry Jenko, but it's time for an amicable parting of the ways where his departure can make way for a right-back to provide competition to Hector Bellerin and thus allow Ainsley Maitland-Niles to flourish in midfield.
Sead Kolasinac
A fantastic attacking weapon but only when operating in a left-wing back position, and Arsenal shouldn't accomodate their formation just for him. He struggles in a flat back four and it's a pain watching him defend especially in one v one situations. When you see how impressive Liverpool's full-backs are, that's the standard and Kolasniac doesn't fit the mould.
