25000 professional footballers in 65 countries have voted to form their list of top 20 defenders in FIFA FIFPro World 11. • 8 defenders make their debut on the list: Virgil van Dijk, Joshua Kimmich, Dejan Lovren, Yerry Mina, Benjamin Pavard, Kieran Trippier, Sime Vrsaljkoand Kyle Walker.
• The 8 defenders who did not receive enough votes to return on the list of 55, include Leonardo Bonucci, who was on last year’s World 11. The three other defenders of last year’s World 11 collected enough votes to make the list: Daniel Alves, MarceloandSergio Ramos.
• Besides Bonucci 2 other World 11 award winners are not on the list: Philipp Lahm(2013, 2014) and David Luiz (2014). Lahm has retired.
• The 5 other defenders who did not get enough votes to return are: David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, Javier Mascherano, Pepeand Antonio Valencia.
• Daniel Alvesand Sergio Ramos are on the list for the 12th consecutive time, equaling Philipp Lahm. All three now share the record among defenders.
